fivebyfive presents Wonders of Water
March 5–6, 2026, 7:30PM (pre-concert 30 min before show)
Strasenburgh Planetarium, Rochester Museum & Science Center
657 East Avenue, Rochester, NY 14607
Immerse yourself in the sound and spectacle of Wonders of Water, a breathtaking multimedia experience beneath the stars at the Strasenburgh Planetarium. This stunning program dives into the essential element that connects us all: water. Through evocative music and immersive full-dome visuals, Rochester’s innovative chamber ensemble, fivebyfive, explores water’s beauty, strength, and vulnerability in an era of environmental urgency.
The program features new works by Sherri Chung and Meilinia Tsui, as well as Livingston County native composer Glenn McClure, whose piece spotlights the pipa (a traditional Chinese lute), performed by the extraordinary Leah Ou.
Immersive videos projected onto the planetarium dome by video artist Marc Webster will ripple, swirl, and crash in sync with the music. The goal is to transport members of the audience into a multi-sensory experience which allows us to appreciate, protect, and marvel at the lifeblood of our planet.
Additional music from fivebyfive’s repertoire — including a return of one of their much-loved eclipse-themed compositions — rounds out the experience.
This concert is part of fivebyfive’s 10th anniversary season featuring the chamber ensemble’s musicians, Laura Lentz (flute), Marcy Bacon (clarinet), Ken Luk (electric guitar), Eric Polenik (bass), and Haeyeun Jeun (piano) plus immersive videos created by fivebyfive’s audio and visual artist, Marc Webster.
