4Now Series #3 What's New

fivebyfive presents 4Now Concert Series

Rochester ensemble adds new dimension for 10th anniversary season

As part of its milestone 10th anniversary season, fivebyfive is introducing something new — 4Now, a series of four smaller, more intimate concerts designed to bring audiences even closer to the music. Known for championing new works by under-represented composers, the ensemble of world-class musicians is using this format to strip away the distance between performer and listener.

The concerts will be held in the cozy performance space at Payton Violins in Rochester’s Village Gate.  These performances will offer audiences a rare chance to experience fivebyfive’s music in a setting where every note feels personal, every gesture is visible, and every piece comes with the story of its creation. “We love the energy of our full-scale concerts,” says artistic director and flutist Laura Lentz, “but there’s something magical about a room small enough that you can see the music in someone’s eyes.”

4Now is an extension of the Of This World theme for the 2025-2026 season which serves as a reminder that music speaks a universal language and can connect us globally. Even by scaling down the venue, fivebyfive is ready to expand the ensemble’s impact and amplify the connection between composer, musician, and audience.
